先日の Perl 5.8.0 を FreeBSD 4.X で使うための話の続きです。実はあれを書いたあとメールをいただき、それによると、 FreeBSD で ports から Perl 5.6/5.8 をインストールすると、 use.perl というスクリプトがインストールされて、これを用いてシステムの Perl を使うか ports の perl を使うかを選択できるということでした。ありがとうございます。

…って、気が付けば /var/db/pkg/perl-5.8.0_6/+DISPLAY に書いてあるじゃん！ちゃんと読めよ > 私。

Installation of Perl distribution is finished.  Please note, that since
Perl is also in the base system, this distribution will not be used by
default.

If you want this version of Perl to be used by default, please type

  use.perl port

Assuming that use.perl script (which was installed with the rest of the
Perl distribution) can be found in your PATH (you might have to type
`rehash' first, depending upon a shell you use), this action will
replace /usr/bin/perl and /usr/bin/suidperl with symbolic links to the
versions of these binaries in the Perl distribution.  This action will
also put some variables into your /etc/make.conf file, so that newly
installed ports (not packages!) will use new version of perl, and the
system upgrades from the source will not overwrite the changes made.

At any time you can also type

  use.perl system

if you wish to revert back to the system version of perl.

ということで、Perl 5.8.0 をインストールして、use.perl port と実行すると、 ports、use.perl system と実行するとシステムの Perl を用いることになるようです。そこで、use.perl port してみました。 /etc/make.conf には以下のように記述が追加されます。

すばらしい。ということで、 p5-* と ja-p5-* 系の packages を全部 pkg_delete したのですが、前回のいい加減な方法の影響もあって、ゴミが /usr/local/lib/perl5 以下に大量に残っている。ということで、

# rm -rf /usr/local/lib/perl5

しようとしたところ、つい指が滑って…。

# rm -rf /usr/local/lib

してしまった…。ショック！ああ、最近のマシンの速いこと、一瞬で終わってしまった。

まあ、Windows で言えば、Uninstallshield でアンインストールしたのに、ゴミが残っていたので C:\Program Files の下のディレクトリを 1 個削除しようとしたら、 C:\Program Files を消してしまったようなものですね。トホホ。

ということで、仕方がないので packages を全部 delete して、環境を再構築…。商用ソフトのライセンスは、 Wnn7 は /etc 以下にあり、VMware はホームディレクトリ下にあったので、特に問題はなかったのですが、いろいろな distfiles が失われていたり、 VMware 2 の build 1235 (Office で選択範囲が見えなかったりするバグが、修正されたバージョン) が見つからなかったりでたいへん。

VMware 2 build 1235 は、以前使ったときにこの日記に URL を書いておいてよかった…。検索で発見。 http://www.networld.co.jp/products/vmware/download/204_down.htm から入手可能です。モノはhttp://www.vmware.com/software/204_pru/VMware-2.0.4-1235.tar.gzにあります。

はあ、ということで何とか環境を再構築しました。いろんなソフトが最新版になってよかった (^^;。

ということで、環境を再構築しつつ、本日の夕食。最近この手のメニューにこっています。今日は鯵でした。
